At Southmoor Primary School the staff celebrate our teaching methods by educating students within an integrated curriculum. Integrated units of work are based on topics of relevance, excursions and interests of our students. Guided by the students' feedback all teaching staff have planning days each term to work in supportive, innovative teams. This provides an enriched learning environment for all students. Students learn to make real life connections by understanding the 'way the world works'. The essence of this approach to planning is to encourage our students to draw from and build on personal knowledge and experience - extending their individual understanding further through the use of 'higher order thinking skills'. All learning in this area is based on a life-long learning approach, as students then apply their knowledge to new areas.
