STEAM

Achieving excellence in Science, Technologies, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics is a priority at Southmoor. The capabilities involved in these areas are lifelong skills that our students will go on to use in their adult lives in research, employment and further education. A STEAM approach focuses on the ‘bigger picture’ of problem-solving skills, innovation, creativity and critical thinking. We produce students who are able to adapt to ever-evolving and changing technologies in a variety of fields. In this 21st century approach to learning, the problem-solving techniques and thinking along the way is just as, or sometimes more important than, the solution. This approach is highlighted in two key subject areas, Digital Technologies and Design Technologies.
